Singer For Awards Session

If you have students interested in singing the national anthem for the Awards Session, please email an audition audio and/or video file to Paxton Cavin at paxton.cavin@careertech.ok.gov by 6 p.m. on February 4th.

Courtesy Corps

Courtesy Corps will be connected to the registration. Each chapter should try to commit 1-2 students to help with the Courtesy Corps to make the conference run more smoothly. In addition, students will learn valuable conference planning and leadership skills to help conduct our largest state event of the year.

Advisor Assistance

We understand that you are busy during conference, but we need your help to make SLC successful. The advisor schedule will be sent out prior to the conference. Please arrive at your work assignment a few minutes prior to the time shown in the schedule. If there are any problems with your assigned time, please let us know before the conference. Please keep in mind that if you fail to report to your scheduled time, it slows down the competitive event process, which ultimately affects our students. They’ve worked hard to get here; please help ensure they have a positive experience. We’ll do our best to limit the amount of time you’re away from students. We do appreciate your support of Oklahoma BPA.

Voting Delegates

Each divisional chartered chapter will be allocated voting delegates based on the number of local registered members. Each local chapter with up to 50 registered members will receive two voting delegates. For every 50 additional registered members, the chapter will receive one additional voting delegate. The number of advisors/programs within the school does not qualify the number of voting delegates, but the charter itself does. The voting session will occur during the Second General Session/Business Meeting on Tuesday, March 12, 2018, from 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m. Voting delegates are not allowed to have campaign materials during the Second General Session/Business Meeting (i.e., brochures, pins, fliers, etc.). Voting delegates must provide their own mobile device that is Wi-Fi enabled to access the online ballots.

Second General Session/Business Meeting

BPA members will have the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session with all the Executive Council candidates, then voting delegates will vote to slate the upcoming State Executive Council. Please remember that it is your privilege and duty to vote for officer candidates.

National Leadership Conference Meeting

There will be a meeting immediately after the Awards Ceremony on March 13 for national qualifiers and the newly elected State Executive Council. Advisors and students planning to attend NLC should attend this meeting as the arrangements for registration and other items will be discussed at this meeting. A BPA Winner’s Workshop is planned to assist students who will be representing Oklahoma at NLC. The workshop will be at the Oklahoma Department of CareerTech in Stillwater TBD, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Conference Evaluation

This year’s Conference Evaluation will be online, and the link will be given during the Awards Session. Please encourage your students to complete the evaluation to provide feedback to improve future conferences.
