BPA Story

My Business Professionals of America journey has been an amazing experience that I will never forget. BPA has truly helped become the person I am today, helping me achieve my goals and make my dreams a reality. Thank you OK BPA!

This journey started in my junior year of high school, when I started a Multimedia class, this is where I was introduced to BPA. I remember the first day of class, my instructor Mr. Walls introduced us to Business Professionals of America and summarized what it had to offer. I was hooked. I wanted to do everything that had the BPA logo, so I started with the national competitions. Competing in the Stukent social media challenge, doing very well and learning so much about an industry that now employs me.

Soon after, Mr. Walls offered a state officer application to the class and of course I couldn’t pass that opportunity up. This process started with the application form and at first it was daunting, but with some work I finished it and submitted it to the state department. I got an interview! The interview went great, I made personal connections with all of the interviewers because most of them had eaten from my family’s restaurant. State conference was coming up quickly and I was competing in a website design team, entrepreneurship event and all of the open tests known to mankind. After weeks of work it was time to see the results at my first virtual SLC and also give my state officer campaign speech to everyone at the conference. It was a big day for me. My competitive events went well and it was time for the speech. There were so many emotions going through my heart in the moments before the camera was on me, but when the camera turned on I knew it was my time to be bright. The speech went great and I was excited about my odds to make the State Executive Council Team. Soon after I got the great news in an email and was to report to the CTSO building in Stillwater for our first team meeting.

That summer our team had many training camps and leadership conferences to help us become the best leaders we could be. We started our FLC planning and continued perfecting these ideas for months, finally we were ready for a noteworthy Fall leadership conference. Fall Conference Lived up to the hype, our keynote speaker was spectacular and our workshops went great, we couldn’t have done it without you. Since then, we have been planning our State Leadership Conference and I am super excited for you all to thrive with us!

Oklahoma BPA thank you for helping those around you, making your communities stronger and furthering your own leadership ability this year.
