BPA Headlines

Brannon Watts & Jacob Schonfield (1st Economic Research Team)

Hello, Oklahoma BPA!

As Thanksgiving grows closer, I find myself reflecting on things in my life I am thankful for and how BPA has impacted my life. I am so thankful for BPA because it has given me so many opportunities. BPA has helped me grow out of my shell in so many ways. It has given me new confidence when meeting people, and when presenting in front of others. I will forever be thankful for BPA, because this amazing organization has given me the ability to attend a college in Florida after high school. BPA has also given me the honor of participating in projects that help others in my community, such as the Chain of Love for Oklahoma Special Olympics (BPA’s state service project), and Miracle Minute with DECA at our recent Fall Leadership Conference.

BPA has also helped me realize how competitive I am. With how many competitions BPA offers, it is not hard to find a competition and fall in love with how much fun it is! Competing has also helped me grow my resume, where I am honored to list being a first-place state winner on the BPA Economic Research Team! It was definitely a great experience getting to work alongside new team members at Central Tech. I was able to work with my friend from another school, and while it did mean late nights and weekends researching, typing and proofreading the paper and citations, and creating and practicing our team presentation, it was all a wonderful experience that I will forever cherish.

I am also thankful for BPA because I have had the amazing opportunity to serve as your 2021-2022 BPA State Historian/Chaplain. I have made so many amazing memories being a state officer. From interacting with our members, to serving as a leader at our recent Fall Leadership Conference alongside two amazing state officer teams (BPA and DECA), this has definitely been one of the best experiences I could have ever hoped for. I have met so many amazing people through this organization, from other career and technical student organizations (CTSOs), state officer teams, and even a few national officers. Being a state officer is something I will forever be thankful for!
